uMlalazi Municipality, under the leadership of Her Worship Mayor Cllr Q.T. Xulu, continues to strengthen intergovernmental collaboration through the Local Task Team (LTT), ensuring that community concerns are addressed effectively and efficiently.

During the meeting, all wards from Ward 1 to Ward 28 presented reports on both outstanding and newly reported community cases. These reports enabled stakeholders to assess progress, identify challenges, and coordinate interventions to improve service delivery across the municipality.

The Department of Transport received and noted all matters referred to the department, provided feedback on cases that have been successfully resolved, and committed to resolving the remaining outstanding matters.

The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including SASSA, the Department of Health, the Department of Agriculture, and the Department of Social Development. The Department of Health presented its report and clarified that the recruitment process for the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) is coordinated through Ward Councillors.

The Department of Agriculture introduced opportunities for residents interested in farming, including application forms for agricultural land rentals and support for subsistence farmers. It was further explained that applicants seeking financial assistance must submit a business plan as part of the funding application process.

The Department of Social Development also reported positive progress, confirming that wards which previously had no social workers have now been allocated dedicated social workers to improve access to essential social services.

The Local Task Team remains a vital platform for collaboration among government departments and stakeholders, reinforcing uMlalazi Municipality’s commitment to responsive governance, coordinated service delivery, and improving the quality of life for all residents.
