The Directorate plays a vital role in enhancing the daily lives of residents by providing essential municipal services, promoting safety, improving environmental quality, and fostering social and recreational development.

Community Services Department is responsible for the following:

  • Public safety and security services.
  • Social and community development services.
  • Fire and Disaster Management Services.
  • Provides vehicle licensing services.
  • Provides support to other government law enforcement departments by keeping and updating records of licensing information.
  • Reduces the rate of accidents on our roads and attend to reported accidents and incidents.
  • Protects the environment and provide a safe and healthy environment to the local community through waste management.
  • Provides a Libraries Services.
  • Promotes sports, arts and culture in uMlalazi.
  • Maintenance of municipal public open spaces, parks, gardens and cemeteries, establishment and maintenance of recreational facilities
