PROJECT HANDOVER | WARD 6 WATER PROJECT
Following the sod turning ceremony held on 13 April 2026, uMlalazi Municipality together with King Cetshwayo District Municipality today officially handed over the completed rudimentary water supply project in Ward 6, servicing the kwaZece and eGcotsheni areas. The project includes borehole development, construction of a pump station with water filtration, installation of a 50kl SBS water storage tank, fencing around the pump-station, supply and installation of a backup power generator, and water reticulation with 6 communal standpipes.
Approximately 48 households will benefit from the project, and 33 people benefited from jobs created through the EPWP programme during construction. As part of today’s handover program, 10 community members were gifted with wheelchairs and 48 families received grocery hampers.
