TRANSFORMATION

His Worship the Honorable Mayor of uMlalazi Municipality, Cllr Thelumoya Zulu, handed over two houses to underprivileged families under ward 22 and 18. Both families had been living in poorly constructed mud houses. They had been identified by His Worship the Mayor during ward visits. The housing project received the partnership of a local mine (TRONOX), which therefore extended a helping hand to the municipality in making the project a success.

The families are headed by elderly women living with their grandchildren. Both houses are fully furnished and each family also received a food parcel. Members of the media were invited to cover the handover celebrations which took place in both wards.

The event was held at the local Eshowe museum, Fort Nonqayi, which also served as the start and finish line of the walk. The mayor emphasised the importance of social cohesion within a society to promote peace. ‘’If we unite and work together regardless of gender differences or race – peace shall dwell within and amongst us,’’ said Zulu.
